Machine, I don't think Alzner will ever develop more offensive flair. That's just not his game and he's never shown it before. He lacks the agressiveness and skating speed of Green, even of a young Green. What he is is a solid, well-positioned defenseman. If you don't notice him all game, he's done well. The goal-off-the-foot thing was fluky, otherwise he had a good game in Edmonton. I don't think he is going back to Hershey (this year or every).

I don't think they'll send Alzner down again since the Caps finally shed Michael Nylander and his contract from the roster for the rest of this year. But I do think Alzner needs to continue to grow and find his niche on this defense. He's very talented and steady, and obviously a defenseman is good when you barely notice him on the nice. But Alzner looks more like Jeff Schultz than Mike Green. And I really wish he would develop a more offensive flair and look to be more aggressive.

Shwedy, I'm willing to admit that my attack of Karl came out of emotion and frustration. Last night was uncharacteristically bad game for him, but Perrault was sent back to Hershey for performing better.

hey man,

love the site. just started reading last week.

However re:Alzner- not only are you being unfair but totally wrong. Alzner is a stellar dman with tons of upside. His games are only going to get better in time for April. If there was no salary cap or roster limit, he would have been here all year long.
