'For the greatest conglomeration of hockey talent we may ever see, Team Russia played like amateurs. '

Um... check out the roster of Team Canada 1976 - 16 Hall of Fame players, including Orr, Hull, and Lafleur. Or 1987, with ten hall of famers and the two greatest players to ever play the game. Or the USSR's 1981 Canada cup team, the best team they ever assembled and one which beat Canada 8-1.

If you think this Russian team was a great collection of players, even with the laughable inclusion of the overmatched KHL players instead of players like Kovalev, you haven't watched much hockey.

I place a lot of blame on the coach. When he sent Ovi out 3 times during that shootout when everyone knows he doesn't have a great shootout record and other team members who do better at shootouts weren't sent out at all, I became officially worried. What a letdown. I had such high hopes.
