A cheerfully demented Washington Capitals site with a healthy fixation on Alex Ovechkin and his Russian bros. CRASH THE NET!

I think this team is much more mentally tough that the one from last year. They are committed to their system and you just don't see them panic and press like they did in past years.

BTW, not to nit pick too much, but the Caps didn't go up 2-0 on MTL last year. They dropped the first at home before winning three straight to go up 3-1. We all, unfortunately, remember what happened then.

@Ian: Russ Thaler was a little unclear in his opening statement in the video. When he spoke about the Caps being "up 2 games" on both Montreal and Pittsburgh, I don't think he meant they took a 2-0 lead both times because that isn't true. The Caps went up 2-0 on the Penguins in 2009, not so against the Canadiens in 2010. Last year the Caps lost Game 1 at home to the Habs and won Game 2, so that series was tied 1-1 after 2 games. The Caps were "up 2 games" when they took a 3-1 lead in the series.

However the main point has been made, the key question is this: do the Caps have the killer instinct and not let up in their play against the Rangers? No lead is safe in a series, nothing is proven until you win 4 games and move on. Let's see if the Caps can get it done.
