Russian Machine Never Breaks

 As a Canadian, I was happy the Jets got their franchise back, but now I’m starting to really dislike their home crowd. I always hesitate to criticize crowds reactions during the heat of a game, but whenever I watch a game on TV that takes place there I end up muting it and trying to sync up the radio.

A few weeks ago, they chanted “Silver Medal” to Ryan Miller during the Buffalo game. Now it’s Crosby’s better? Blech. I’m all for an excited crowd, and a bit of jeering can be fun, but they seem to border on obnoxious. Please note that not all Canadians think this way (Crosby has the personality of a toe nail), and we don’t all think hockey belongs only to Canada. So please don’t let Winnipeg reflect badly on the rest of us! Also what is this 2006? Who cares who is better? They’ve both proven their skills and resiliency.

If you don’t think crosby’s better than ovie, you’re a moron, who doesnt deserve an opinion about hockey. Try to find one unbiased analyst who would disagree with that. Sorry you dont have fans as knowledgeable and as passionate as winnipeg’s. Way to make yourself look ignorant.

who is this maple syrup sucker who only goes by “guest”  writing about how great winnipeg is so awesome. isn’t there arena a building used for junior hockey last year and a team that wasnt’ in winnipeg as thye sucked before even with their “great fans”  i give it five to ten before it moves again maybe they will be the Quebec Nordiques again since franchise names really don’t matter. about Crosby he can’t really be better as one has been playing the game going through the rigors of the season while the other was in a press box, by the way isn’t he only like the same height as Perrault , he is going to get his head knocked silly again

 Lazy insults. Ovi is 27, his career is far from over. The Stanley Cup is won by a team not just one player, so you can’t say that a player isn’t skilled just because he hasn’t won the cup. Pavel Bure, Darryl Sittler, Trevor Linden, Markus Naslund, Marcel Dionne, Cam Neeley. All these players never won the cup, but are still hall of famers just like Ovi will be. Maybe you should spend a little less time worrying about who is better and a little more time coming up with original insults for when you troll other fanbases.

Agreed. Just making an exaggerated point so that Jeremiah can understand. Also the form of the word you wanted was “too seriously”. Just saying.

 Also, can I just say that I never once said I thought Crosby was a bad player. He is one of the best players in the world I won’t deny it. I just happen to like Ovechkin’s style and the Caps team better. It’s a personal choice and everyone is entitled to like who they want. Some of my favourite players have 4 goals on the year, and I don’t think that makes my opinion less valid. Let’s get over telling other fans who they are allowed to like and how they are supposed to watch the game.

 This thread was almost a  PERFECT example of the internet argument. If only he had said “Hitler” instead of “Saddam” it would have been a hat trick: (1) Mention anonymous “experts” without references, (2) Compare something to Nazis, (3) Point out a grammar error as a last resort.

What’s funny is the Jets will never have a franchise player like Crosby or Ovechkin because nobody of that caliber wants to play on a team in the middle of nowhere.  Coming from a Leafs fan

I’m a Jets fan and that is clever!  If it gets the crowd together and everyone has more fun at the game by getting involved then i’m all for it!  Your paying a lot of money for those tickets so ya may as well go and have the most fun you can!

I for one am glad our city has a mean crowd. The team thrives on it, and I think it accurately reflects the overall  affect, attitude, and hockey culture  here in Winnipeg

You are very correct about the blue line.  I don’t think any of them were overly offended by it or maybe they would’ve said something and told their fans to calm down a bit.  Still trying to figure out where the inferiority complex kicks in when the chant is about a huge hockey game in a country that loves hockey at a hockey game!  Lived in your country for five years, had a great time and got ripped on plenty for being Canadian but I didn’t get all bent out of shape about it as you clearly are.  Just take it easy and remember we’re talking about hockey here.  I do appreciate your efforts of trying to offend me though, you make some good points and it’s great that we can help your economy by buying american-made jets.  As for the lack of aeronautical industry , the last time I flew to Denver with United Airlines, it was on a CRJ which is a canadian-made aircraft.  So there is a bit of an aeronautical industry here just fyi.  Now i’m going to go and eat some french fries and gravy and drink some maple syrop…EH!!!  Blame Canada 

 No, let’s clear this up since you made this a country-vs-country flame.  Silver medal represents the US, Gold medal represents Canada. I’m glad we got that crystal clear.

Next, the Winnipeg Jets are 100% Canadian, it’s a goddamn hockey team not a military.
