Great interview. Good insight about his first mentor and coach being a tough guy and taking Sasha under his wing. Maybe that’s why Sasha seemed to catch on to Hunter Hockey faster than anyone else on the team! He’s a very good 2-way player.

When people talk about Semin not historically being an all-arounder, they overlook the fact that the Caps had never really asked him to be. Hockey players do what they’re told, and it’s the coach’s job to get the best out of them. Semin was probably always capable of playing like this; it’s just that nobody asked him until now.
