Alex Ovechkin’s On The Cover of ProSport Magazine

Last year as a 19-year-old, Washington Capitals prospect Evgeny Kuznetsov was chosen to be on the March cover of Russia’s most popular sports publication, ProSport Magazine. With the NHL lockout wreaking havoc to the 2012-13 season, another kinda-Capital will be gracing ProSport’s cover: two-time NHL MVP and high-fashion model Alex Ovechkin.

The December edition, which will be on sale from December 17 to January 20, 2013, features Ovi in some kind of black mumu sweater thing with the headline “Sasha, from the USA” and “Ovechkin in the KHL.” Now that’s a tease!

Thankfully, to whet our appetite until we get our hands on the latest issue, ProSport has released a somewhat erotic behind-the-scenes video of Ovechkin modeling for their photoshoot. And because I’d rather crop screenshots of Ovechkin shirtless in Photoshop than spend time with my girlfriend and ferrets, here’s some stills too!

Despite the Russian National Team beating out Team Sweden for the Channel One Cup, Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom remain friends, as evidenced by this photo tweeted out by line-mate Leo Komarov. Sure, this embrace is not as epic as the bro hug the two shared when Backstrom first signed, but look at these guys. Tiiiiiiight for lyffffee.

Evgeny Kuznetsov’s 2013 KHL All-Star Game Commercial

Nice hat.

Coming into the season, Evgeny Kuznetsov was persona non grata to Caps fans. The talented 20-year-old winger shunned the NHL for a second time, deciding to stay with Traktor Cheylabinsk for another two years. But with time comes perspective. That decision has proven to be wise, as the NHL lockout has already wiped out half of this season with no signs of ending.

By staying in Russia, Kuznetsov gets to enjoy the KHL All-Star game being held in his hometown of Chelyabinsk. Last week, Kuznetsov was voted in as a starter for the second straight year by fans. And the KHL this weekend debuted a commercial promoting the game featuring Chelyabinsk’s favorite son.
