Michal Neuvirth flying back to America

There are three Washington Capitals players that have yet to make an appearance at Kettler Capitals IcePlex this week: goaltender Michal Neuvirth, defenseman Roman Hamrlik, and potential top-six winger Wojtek Wolski. You can now cross Neuvirth off that list. According to The Washington Times’ Stephen Whyno, Neuvy flew to Washington on Wednesday and plans on skating with his Caps teammates on Friday morning. Sorry, Brett Leonhardt. You must now vacate the ice.

Before Neuvy left for America (some time in the last six months), he took in a tennis match with his girlfriend Monika. Thanks to ahaonline.cz, you can see them not-smiling for the camera.

Based on the logo on the back of the courtside chair, it really, really, really looks like this picture was taken at the U.S. Open in New York City, which is held for two weeks right around Labor Day. So, I don’t think this picture was taken recently, “[b]efore Neuvy left for America.”

I thought Neuvi was in the practice posted earlier along with Holtby. The one with notable Hendricks and Riberio too

  • -said by no one ever….haha

  • Pretty sure it was one of those invite goalies.

  • That was Brett Leonhardt, the Caps video coach, filling in for Neuvy.

  • When I saw the photo of them two together, I automatically thought of the following:

  • Rhino40

    Two thoughts:
    • The airlines must have charged Nwuvy more in baggage fees than they did for his ticket )))))))))hahahaha
    • …that makes two Caps players whose “girlfriend can hit [them] with Tennis Яacket”

  • I like turtles

When he played for the Plymouth Whalers, he dated a girl from down in Michigan who looked suspiciously like him… this is an improvement, if that’s remotely possible.
