Washington Capitals prospect Evgeny Kuznetsov flew to Germany where he’ll undergo an examination of his latest shoulder injury. Kuznetsov, who was injured after a hit by Vityaz’s Maxim Rybin Friday, is out indefinitely.

During a post-game presser following Traktor’s 4-3 victory over Torpedo Sunday, their first win of the season, Traktor head coach Valery Belousov commented broadly on his star forward’s status.

Sport-Express quotes Belousov:

We don’t know a lot because it’s the weekend. I think tomorrow we’ll have some clarity. We sent Evgeny to the same clinic where he underwent surgery and the doctor knows what happened to him. I think they’ll figure it out.

I was so excited when we drafted this guy, but now between his injury history and his decisions to not come to North America I’m just sick of hearing about him.

It would have been more in keeping with the tradition of our beloved Washington Capitals to wait until the first NHL game to do this. Wait until we fall in love to break our hearts, Kuzya. Its how we do it here.

That sounds really bad. The only hope is that since E.Fehr doing relatively well with Caps despite shoulder surgeries, Kuzya also will recover, and hopefully it will not put some limits on what he can achieve in the future.

Oof. Get well soon, Kuzya. We wouldn’t pay so much attention to you if we didn’t love you.
