For nearly two full periods, Tuesday’s night’s game was mind-numbingly dull. But then, Troy Brouwer fumbled the puck in spectacular fashion on the power play, putting the Columbus Blue Jackets up 1-0. The next Caps power play went a little a better.

Skating into the offensive zone, Martin Erat fought for the puck near far circle with Columbus defenseman Dalton Prout — yes, that’s a real name — as John Carlson and Tom Wilson drove towards the front of the net. As Erat approached, he was tripped by Prout. Falling over, Marty made a brilliant pass to the front of the net, connecting with Carlson. JCar scored for his fourth goal in six games. Carlson also fell over as he contacted the puck, crashing into CSN’s goal cam. Wilson, eager to celebrate, then tripped over Carlson’s legs, himself tumbling into the net.

Three Caps on the ground, one puck in the net. Only the Caps could make a sublime skill play look so haphazard.

The best part isn’t even the amazing pass or goal, it’s that Wilson is already mid-celly as he’s collapsing into the net

And Erat with yet another point against CBJ.

Laich out Fehr in, come on Oates aren’t you watching?

I’m sure you’re making this gif as I speak but any chance of a “Tom Wilson hitting some dude” gif?

Nobody noticed the extreme hook/trip by Dubinsky on Carlson? He literally does it with extreme force.

I think the analysis of the video is a bit off heh, 2 potential penalty shots but still got the goal ;)

I was going to ask about that as well. Willy demolished some goof behind the Jackets net in the 2nd pd, I think. It was cool.

Laich plays by far the most minutes on the #1 PK in the NHL. He will not be scratched while that is the case. And, Oates wants his PK tandems to be 5v5 linemates, so Brooks and Brouw will continue to play the 2nd (3rd) line and the #1 PK tandem. As they should.

Everybody just wanted to crash the net!

I think the most impressive part is that everyone managed to not hit Bobrovski
