There’s something about goalies hanging out in full gear away from the ice that is always funny. Like check out this Henrik Lundqvist commercial or Braden Holtby at Baltimore Arena. And now there’s this photo from Washington Capitals PR dude Pace Sagester. Above, check out Holtby and Michal Neuvirth smiling goofily for the camera.
You got goalie controversy on your mind because Philipp Grubauer is still on the team? Worried about Holtby’s last 10 days? Neuvy’s injury? Don’t sweat it. Here’s two dudes chilling in funny outfits, sitting in steel chairs, not a care in the world.
This is just a picture that makes me smile. Go Caps!
Pace Sagester? Someone make this man a News Anchor.
On a more serious note, Gruby is starting again tonight. When are they going to figure out this goalie controversy? They can’t keep three net minders. Someone has to go.
The new Rangers town commerical with Lundqvist in full goalie gear swiffering floors and making smoothies is pretty hilarious also.
Cool picture, but honestly, what is wrong with Oates? How can this not be messing with Holtby’s head? He gets pulled from a game for 3 goals that were mostly not his fault (gee, thanks Greenie) and then isn’t played for 10 days, has one lousy game and then Oates chooses not to play him again. Lotta faith that his coach is showing there. Pfft!
Remember when I asked you via Twitter whether I should be worried about Holtby’s role as the undisputed #1 in DC and you responded “NO” within about 11 seconds??? …NOW should I be concerned?
Grubi won’t get more than a handful more starts up here (unless there’s a trade). Oates is smart not to use Holtby in back to backs. Neuvy is still recovering from injury and may require more rest.
Holtby is the man.
I don’t know, Peter…Holtby hasn’t looked great in the past few games he’s played so we’ll see.
Don’t worry, I don’t plan to confront you about your Holtby biased views 😉
Most goalies save around 9 out of 10 shots. Most goalies see around 30 shots a game. A few bad nights in a row doesn’t mean they’re “off their game” or anything, just means consistency is a myth.
That’s the opposite bias; it’s objectivity. Holtby is good.
Holtby looks like a kid pretending to be a hockey player in one of those head in the hole cutouts.
I see it!
