As Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin skated towards the Buffalo Sabres net with 4:04 remaining in overtime, the league leader in goals looked primed to score. A goal would have ended the 4-4 tie and completed his second hat trick of the season.

Instead, as Ovechkin raised his left leg and cradled the puck dangerously ever closer towards Sabres goaltender Jhonas Enroth, the Russian machine wagged his tongue and then unselfishly dished the puck to the even more wide-open Mike Green. Game Over chipped the puck into the net for an easy (looking) overtime game-winning goal.

That assist concluded a four-point night for Ovechkin (more on that in a bit) and gave us this blurry, yet satisfying screenshot.

Like Mike!

I believe he had his tongue out like Mike during “The Goal” as well. That commentary from the Phoenix guys is burned into my brain.

I HATE the freakin’ main announcer. Great job of being as fucking monotone as a hypnotist, you fucking homer. Even the other guy doesn’t give it enough credit. I get that it’s against your team, but Joe B and the Locker would lose their minds if a goal was scored like that, even against us.

Ovi overrated? Why don’t you poll the goalies and d-men who sell out on his shot in overtime and leave one of the best scoring defensemen in the league wide open streaking far post.

What a freakin incredible assist. Unselfish play, wanting to win games. Never change, Ovi!

This is somewhat unrelated, but did you know the Canes have a prospect name Michal Jordan?

It looks to me like Ovi simply likes Captain Morgan,
which maybe explains why he and Mojo have played so well together at times
