Unlike Alex Ovechkin and John Carlson, Nicklas Backstrom and Marcus Johansson didn’t play on Thursday. Instead, Team Sweden held practice and took their team photos.

The Swedish-language site Aftonbladet has photos.

Swedish Captain Henrik Zetterberg did not attend practice or take photos with the team. According to the Detroit Free Press, Zetterberg’s back injury has flared up. His status for Friday is uncertain, possibly opening up space for Washington forward Marcus Johansson.

Hope to see Mojo in lineup! Would that mean top 6 minutes from him? If the coaches puts him with Backy?

Too many Swedes are Borked; Franzen, Sedin, and now Zetterberg hurt. If Mojo gets to crack the lineup, I hope he takes advantage of it. His speed should be wicked on the big ice.

Just heard on the radio on my way to work, that Henrik Zetterberg will not play todays game against Switzerland.

Patrik Berglund will center the first line with Alex Steen and Gabriel Landeskog.

Marcus Johansson will center the third line, flanked by Gustaf Nyquist and Daniel Alfredsson. It’s Olympic debute for Mojo.

NHL Gamecenter app just broke the news that Zetterberg is done for the duration of the Olympics.

I’ve been in a car for the last hour. The news broke at 7:55 local Swedish time (+3 får Sochi, -6 for Eastern US). Henrik Zetterberg misses the rest of the Olympic Tournament.

According to Zetterberg himself, it’s his back once again. Only this time it’s “20 times worse” and he “can barely move at all”. He’s not even able to make the flight back to Detroit, right now.

This means Marcus Johansson will play the rest of the Olympics.

Jacob Silfverberg remains as an extra forward.

From the original roster, Team Sweden now misses Henrik Sedin, Johan Franzén and Henrik Zetterberg.

Niklas Kronwall gets the ‘C’ for the rest of the tournament.

Ugh. I was worried about this happening. Wings are screwed without him and Pav.
