The Florida Panthers had erased two two-goal leads on Monday night, but the Capitals had a chance to finish them off late in the third.
Exiting the penalty box, Mike Green was set on a one-on-zero breakaway. As he neared the paint, Florida goalie Tim Thomas fell– opening up the net for a layup game-winner with deadly casualness.
Except Green put the puck right into Thomas’ glove.
Laughter ensued. Because sometimes you can’t even cry.
Thank goodness the Capitals still won 5-4 or Green would have been the goat, and I don’t mean the greatest of all time.
If it was anybody else shooting there I would of been surprised but it was just Green doing Green things
The Caps season. All summed up. Right here.
I feel bad for Mike Green just watching this. He had eons of time to adjust and didn’t. So bad.
When Thomas fell the first thing that came to my mind was “oh no, this is too good to be true.” And of course, it was.
Great hustle by Erat to get him the puck there!
If I may.
Is the Caps fan in the bottom left of the first GIF throwing up her hands to celebrate or is that a “WTF!” …?
It’s like he’s a good player or something.
Hendy move always work vs Thomas! But MG, finish it, dont spoil it!
If he’d elevated that juuuuust a bit…
So it’s official Tim Thomas falls down when you fake a shot early.
I thought tea partiers didn’t like hand outs?
Great film study by Greeny
This, “fall on my ass,” move is a Tim Thomas special. But unlike Green, Hendy buried this one. I miss you Matty!
Well, at least this didn’t happen.
I guess green is saving that for the playoffs.
I want to say a bunch of things but I won’t since my comment will get removed again! *sigh* weak just weak.
Sorry, but Green’s just sorry!!
I like the discreet joke by havign the tags ‘gif, mike green “tim thomas” “Wut?” haha
All he had to do was just toss the puck up in the air lightly once Timmy “I’m Too Good For The White House” fell over. I despise TT.
I don’t know if I’ve ever been as happy as when Hendy paralyzed TT.
smhing so much my neck hurt after watching that last night
Seriously? How about great flipping save from Tim Thomas.
I’m glad someone posted that. Erat had to be more frustrated than anyone else. He made a fantastic play to create the breakaway.
The more I watched it, though, and it pains me to say it, I give Thomas a lot of credit for making this save. When he hit his butt, he immediately shoved himself backward toward the net to give himself any chance at getting his glove to the post. Sure, Greenie didn’t elevate it enough, but had Thomas just been laying where he landed, he’sd be 2 feet from the post and it’s a layup.
