On Sunday, the Colorado Avalanche held their fan appreciation night at Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. Just like the Capitals, each Avs player gave the jersey off his back to one adoring fan.

After making 30 saves in 65 minutes of work (plus a shootout), a very tired Semyon Varlamov was the first to give his jersey away.

After giving the fan a hug, he signed her new jersey, and– according to her son– Varly had only one thing to say: “Sorry it’s so sweaty.”

He probably didn’t have to apologize.

Who else would sell their soul for a Landeskog (or Duchene) jersey? Ahh yes here lies a traitor.

I thought you send him to deepest part of hell dump (even when there was no evidence…) so it is quite surprising to see something about him here.

BTW I want that bobblehead :(

    Yea I’m confused

Seems like Varly is a real fan favorite out there, wahhh

I’m so glad we have George McPhee to manage our franchise.

I cannot stand GMGM but moving Varly was the right thing to do at the time. The guy was constantly injured and if you remember, he trashed the Caps trainers/medical staff when he left. He was unhappy here (shocking I know) and moving him made sense.

I think it was his agent that did most, if not all of the trash talking and bridge burning. I remember Varly wasn’t happy with not being #1 in the net at that point, but I don’t think he was the one to make any statements.

George McPhee never moves Varlamov to Colorado….the rest of the snowball effect may not have sunk this team.

Varlamov = Colorado’s 2012 1st round pick (Filip Forsberg) and 2012 2nd round pick. The 2012 2nd round pick was traded to Dallas with Cody Eakin for Mike Ribiero – who was never resigned.

Filip Forsberg was traded to the Predator’s for Michael Latta and Martin Erat.

Martin Erat was traded to the Coyotes for Chris Brown, Rostislav Klesla and a 2015 4th round pick.

Klesla and Michal Neuvirth were traded to Buffalo for Jaroslav Halak and a 2015 3rd round pick.

I think that covers it. He essentially traded Semyon Varlamov and Michal Neuvirth for Jaroslav Halak, a 2015 3rd round and a 2015 4th round draft pick. Terrible when you break it down that way. Absolutely terrible.
