Michal Neuvirth’s Elastic Groin (Photo)

Looking more like torture than exercise, former Washington Capitals goaltender Michal Neuvirth tweeted out this photo of himself doing the splits on some kind of weird slide board this afternoon. Neuvirth, who was traded to the Sabres at the trade deadline, played in two games for Buffalo before getting sidelined with another injury.

In his tweet today, Neuvirth said he was “finally feeling good!” If this were me doing the splits, I would not be feeling good at all. I’d be going to the hospital. I’ll keep Neuvy’s groin in my prayers.

Neuvy, never change. That also goes for your Twitter avatar, which has you in a Caps uniform. Never change that either.

Can I say something slightly inappropriate? In my top reasons for hockey being my #1 favorite sport is burly men being able to do the splits. Ok Neuvirth is more Björk and less burly, but there’s always 70. Glad Neuvy is feeling better.

    Been there. Seen that.

hahaha “more Bjork and less burly” … you just made my afternoon coffee come out of my nose

“former Washington Capitals goaltender Michal Neuvirth” … I still haven’t gotten used to that :/

“You and I were watching [Holtby] in the warm-up, he was stretching like he needed an ambulance. It was unbelievable, the splits he was doing. And right there is a good example of why, if he didn’t hurt himself there, he’s in good shape. Boy, oh boy…”

    Boy, oh boy indeed.

Huge respect for this, especially since he’s been injured. I mean, I can split down no problem, but I’m one of those rubber band type girls and it’s never been hard. I’m always blown away by guys brave enough to walk into yoga class at the gym and even *attempt* this sort of thing… well, except the ones who are just there for the scenery, and that’s another subject.

Elastic one day, glass the next… poor kid.

I’m gonna miss Neuvy. He was real solid. I hope he can become a stay on in Buffalo. And hopefully Holtby will be the Caps Franchise goalie.

    You’d think his name was Havlat…. #AllCzechsLookALike

Seems like working with a floor gymnast would be useful for goalies. Core and leg strength and flexibility are common to the sports.

Neuvy must (still) be a RMNB reader because his avatar has now changed…
