Down 2-0 in their series against the Anaheim Ducks, the eighth-seeded Dallas Stars returned to American Airlines Center and had a freaking party. Led by goals from Jamie Benn, that other guy from Traktor Chelyabinsk, and Ryan best-name-in-the-league Garbutt, the Stars shut out the Ducks 3-0.

Not only did they trounce Boose, Perry, and #TeemuForever, the Star’s PA guy trolled the Ducks so very hard. After a third period timeout and the Stars up 2-0, this song came on the loudspeaker.

Turn the sound on! Yes, I perfectly synced the chorus.

Look at Teemu. He has no idea what’s going on.

Twitter exploded as fans started to realize what they were hearing.

Best show.

P.S. – Here’s Benn’s goal. Notice A.) How loud it is B.) Boudreau melt down on the Ducks bench. Or I guess marinate.

P.P.S. – This is really lame.

Well played, Dallas, well played. But seriously, can we discuss what is wrong with Anaheim for this not being their standard music? http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_loxjhdnOIP1r0wgiuo1_500.gif

Speaking of post-game hat awards, what happened to the Caps hard hat? Do they still give that out in the post-game locker room?

My mind is blown that it took this long for Duck Tales to be played in games against Anaheim.

Not as funny as the Caps in-game entertainment guys playing “I Want a New Duck” when announcing the Anaheim lineup.

Damn right we threw a party! And it was glorious!

Aside from the horrible season ender to Robidas, I enjoy every second of this one.

Any idea what had Bruce so steamed?

Gotta agree with Matt Emery. The one time I went to AAC, I was very pleased and entertained by the music selection. However we lost so I was also harassed by Stars fans on the way out for wearing a Caps jersey.

It was big fun. Also, numerous references to Nintendo’s “Duck Hunt,” complete with the dog laughing after 8 bit Jamie Benns shot down suspiciously orange ducks.
    I’m a little hoarse.

  • As a Stars fan myself, I apologize that some of our fans were shitlords to you. That doesn’t fly in my book and if I’d seen that in person, I’d have called that shit out.

Playful banter? Yes. Harassment? Absolutely not.

(Since we’re southern we might say “well bless your hearts”, though, and yes that’s basically a cardinal insult. :P)

Right on, man. I like to think we’re better than that, and I think on the whole we are. Had two Ducks fans in front of me last night and we all chatted and had a great time, even though the game sucked for them. One of them, a big guy, was standing up in front of me at the outset and told me, “I’ll quit blocking you, don’t slap me.” I reassured him that this isn’t Philadelphia, and I would do no such thing.
They laughed and agreed that it’s much better to be Ducks fans in Dallas, but apparently some likely transplant from Philly had called the guy an obscene name, totally unprovoked. The person wasn’t there to call out, and in any case I’m a slip of a girl, so it might not have been the wisest thing to do… But I at least gave the guy a mortified apology.
I swear, they need to scan for Flyers fans at the door.

that requires the caps winning a game

That PA music guy would be one Michael Gruber. @tweetgrubes
He used to be the board OP middays and evening drive on KTCK. Got the gig with the Stars and has brought the same sort of insanity to the AAC. Every Ticket P1 in DFW perked up when the Norm drop of “What? What? What? What?…” made the air after the goal was waved off because of the fight at the other end of the rink.

This Kings fan agrees with you.
