Henrik Lundqvist Squirts Sidney Crosby (Video)

The same day Boston Bruins enforcer Shawn Thornton was fined for squirting his water bottle at P.K. Subban, New York Rangers goaltender and male model Henrik Lunqvist also got naughty with his Gatorade bottle. The recipient of the liquid hate this time was soon-to-be-named MVP Sidney Crosby, so this highlight goes to 11.

As the Rangers and Penguins scrummed it up near the crease, The King made his move. We’ve got both angles and they’re amazing.

He was not subtle at all.

Another look at the drive-by soaking. The game also featured Crosby slew-footing Rangers defenseman Dan Giardi

…and Crosby spearing Dominic Moore in the penis-and-scrotum region.

So… big night for the Sid the Kid. His team lost, by the way.

  • VeggieTart

Does it make me a hypocrite that I think Shawn Thornton is a douche for squirting P.K. Subban but find it hilarious that Henrik Lundqvist dumped water on Sidney Crosby?

  • Hokahey Hockey

Bravo for your excellent coverage! All is fair in love and war!

  • slavallwyn

Not at all. Lundqvist did it out standing up for his teammates. Sid needs to stop being the Kid and grow up, otherwise this kind of reaction is perfectly fine, imo.

  • Owen Johnson

Oh yes. The series where I want both teams to lose. I want the Penguins to lose more though. Sid deserved it.
BTW, almost 2 full days without RMNB make me go all http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee56/CameraofSam/Chappelle/ani_tyrone-biggums-scratch.gif

  • Owen Johnson

Sid the Adult doesn’t have quite the same ring to it though…

  • Jayleigh

Lundqvist has earned my love and admiration for the awesomeness of this deliberate drive-by (skate-by?). Mainly because of his chosen target.

  • Guest

It’s far more bush to squirt a guy in the face during a play up the ice.

  • Darla Doxstater

    “male model Henrik Lunqvist”

Hmmmph. No link for this one?

A bottle of Advil would have been funnier, but water will do

  • Rhino40

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this petulant, nasty, spoiled-brat side of Crosby. And–sad to say–it probably isn’t the last.

Just in case anyone needs to ask me anymore why I refer to Crosby as “Sid-the-Id“: It’s because whenever things aren’t going his way, his primitive, impulse-driven reptile-brain takes over…and anything remotely resembling sportsmanship goes right out the window. Peter, please grant your blessing and make this officially a Thing.

And yet, somehow, they never ever, ever discuss this rather obvious “Leadership issue” on NBC…hmmm

    GOOD ON YA’, HENRIK!!!!

  • Bugs Fire

Real heroes though were Milbury and Co. You think they would struggle explaining Crosby’s lack of formal productivity this postseason. But fear not! They quickly concluded in the intermission of game 5 that the problem is the lineup (although somehow Bylsma escaped the blame because, you know, he is awesome and not European). Oh yes, it’s all because of Malkin. Sidney simply needs to be reunited with, I quote, “his own posse”.

This was all particularly outrageous because Malkin was the one guy in that game who tried real hard (and scored Pens’ only goal).

The other gem was when they mentioned that Crosby simply needs to go back to being his old self (as in stop being a jerk that cross checks people after the whistle). Whatever.

  • John Lindner

Kid better get suspended from Game 7.. oh wait.. that can’t happen Bettman still runs the NHL

  • Spartanking300x

I hope lundqvist is fined dick move and uncalled for.

  • Muskrat42

Prior to game 5 they used the excuse that Sid’s lack of production was due to all the extra pressure opposing defenses had to put on him. In other words, when Sid sucks, he’s still being awesome and drawing D away from his line mates. SMH So glad Ovi never had to face that.

  • Anthony Elworthy/scrubversive

I knew he was all photogenic and stuff, but I didn’t know he was an underwear model!

  • Anthony Elworthy/scrubversive

Hank was in motion with the bottle before Crosby was on the ice. Did he and Girardi plan the old one-two push followed by water bottle to the face ahead of time? If so, even more awesome in my book.

Edit: If not, still awesome. d(^.^)b

  • Shaun Phillips

Klassy kunitz with the sucker punch too. Sid’s a little punk. And while I do think Lundquist should get a fine to stay someone consistent, it’s (squirting someone on a dead play) not nearly as bad as what Thornton did to PK (squirting someone in the face while he’s skating up the ice).

  • VeggieTart

But how much hatred and bile would Milbury spew on Ovechkin if he weren’t producing in the playoffs? It would be ugly. And how many times has Sid’s lack-of-defense led to an opposition goal?

It’s one of many reasons I despise PeNBC.

  • Moskillz76

Notice how Crosby didn’t complain. He’s used to getting pinned down and having stuff squirted onto his face.

  • Moskillz76

I wonder if they checked to see if the water gave him a concussion?

  • Lawrence
  • Lawrence

Yeah its an absolute joke to hear the differences in hatred over ovechkin and Crosby. Ovi would be getting eating alive in the media right now, heartless, coach killer, embarrassing, etc. Think I saw a boy tear in Pillsbury’s eyes when he had to say something slightly negative about crosby. Whatever, a guy who beats a fan with a shoe, runs an organization into the ground (which still can’t recover), and has the most obvious nationality bias, has lost all credentials in my mind.

This is becoming a common theme about Crosby not showing up when it counts. Imagine how much worse his production would be if other teams had to only focus on him, rather than another top 3 player in the world that’s on his own team. Imagine Ovi in place of Crosby on that team with that roster? Unstoppable.

  • Shmoo

Dick move, yes. BUT SO FRICKIN’ CALLED FOR.

  • RonfromLongIsland

Whenever Milbury opens his giant maw, just remember there’s a reason why he’s a commentator and not a GM. Not just that, but he will, undoubtedly, go down in history as the WORST GM ever.

  • RonfromLongIsland

If the Penguins win the Stanley Cup, Gary Bettman should win the Conn Smythe.

  • RonfromLongIsland

Not just proud of my team, but proud of Henrik Ludnqvist for standing up and saying “enough is enough.” Crosby has shown his true colors through these past two games. I’ve never wanted the Rangers to win a game as badly as I want them to win Game 7. Not against the Islanders. Not against the Devils. I want them to beat the Penguins and specifically Crybaby Crosby.

  • VeggieTart

Uh, no, considering Crybaby speared a guy in the stones and slew-footed another, he more than deserved what he got. I’m no fan of the Rangers, but I found it absolutely hilarious. Crosby dishes it out but he sure can’t take it. And I’m sure that if Henrik is fined, he (and his teammates) will think it worth every penny.

  • http://www.russianmachineneverbreaks.com Ian Oland

    Why hello there, Darla.

  • https://twitter.com/Haddaweezy Holy_Cal

    I’m in that same boat.

  • Stacey L Fake

No concussion, but it did cause his mascara to run.

  • Sarah

To clarify: upvote for Ian’s hilarity. Not that Hank isn’t handsome and everything, but that was funny stuff.

  • Graham Dumas

Ummm, no. Not one bit. Also because Crosby was really, really asking for it. Thornton squirted PK during play, if I recall correctly, which also adds to the douche quotient, or dochient. #FancyStats

  • Graham Dumas

Ovechkin would have been shot at dawn for pulling something like that.

  • Me

    Nope!

  • 70Caps
  • Jayleigh

Just read Lundqvist’s response to reporters about spraying Crosby: “I always squirt it when I go off the ice. I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Hehehe

  • Jayleigh

    Every. Penny.

  • Yo8

I remember when I was watching a Caps game and an intermission with a Lundqvist’s interview show up and my mother asked me if he was a model hahaha! You see she is not a hockey fan and that was the first time she heard about him.

  • JessHughes

Reading this when I got notice that Lundquist was fined $5K. Worth every penny.

  • VeggieTart

I’m sure he thinks so. I think it’s disgusting that the Pens get away with a lot of shit, but agitate the Golden Boy, and you get fined.

  • Rhino40

    +6.02 X 10²³

  • Jayleigh

    Yep. That’s a lot of pennies. :)

  • kat

    Yes, Veggie….it does!!!!
