Joe Beninati Wins Big at Local Emmys (Photo)

Photo: @TarikCSN

This photo of Joe Beninati is how I will remember him when I get old and grey: smiling, immaculately dressed and rocking an Emmy in each hand. Tonight, Beninati was named the Capital area’s best play-by-play man/analyst, which he deserves so hard. He also received a second Emmy for best play-by-play composite, which I’m less sure what that actually means.

Congratulations are also in order for CRL and Elliot Segal for winning best sports feature and Michael Jenkins being named best sports anchor.

We are so lucky to have these guys in the area. is paЯty now))))

3rd best announcer for me that I’ve listened to on a consistent basis over my lifetime, behind Mike Emerick and Gary Thorne. And to be listed behind those two is no insult, IMO.

I don’t include people like Rick Jeanerette only because I have never had the pleasure of listening to them other than highlight videos.

Joe B is awesome, and totally deserving of this. But has anyone checked on and sent ice cream to the Brouwer Rangers?

  • I think the loss also means me and Chris can’t refer to ourselves as “contributors to an Emmy-winning TV show” yet.

Aw, Ian. The Tom Wilson showdown and the Jay Beagle phone factoids were totally my favs out of this season of CRL 🙂

  • Brackaphobia

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. I miss his commentary even when I’m watching games at VC.

None any better, hate when the Caps are NBCSN. Congrats to Joe B., the best in the biz.

  • LuvdCaps

Joe B is the best. Well deserved!

  • Brouwer Rangers

We’re already conferring with our lawyers to mount a recount on TB20’s behalf.

Ice cream is always accepted as a sign of your support for this noble campaign.

Sucks that all the caps games that come on in my Area are either NBC or CBC (I don’t really think there that bad, but there just so damn biased). Long Live Joe B

The delegation from Texas moves to provide Ian and the Brouwer Rangers with Blue Bell Vanilla.
    Much tastier than an Emmy.

  • “Hosts interview segments for Emmy Award-winning hockey show airing nationally on NHL Network.”

  • That has a nice ring to it.
