Someday This Will Be Us

Over the weekend I was bored and started browsing through Instagram on my iPad. I ended up looking at all the photos and videos Kings fans uploaded after they won the Stanley Cup. You would think that’d be a mistake (okay, maybe I cried a little), but in the end it reminded me why I want the Caps to win their own cup so badly some day: the celebration is unmatched.

From a fan’s perspective, here’s what scoring the Stanley Cup/winning goal is like; here’s what it’s like to see the captain of your team first lift the cup; and here’s what it’s like to riot in the streets of LA and down a police-controlled drone.

It’s pretty frigging cool.

You’re only a true Caps fan once you realize that, no, this will never be us, and then you still cheer for the Capitals anyway.

  • http://www.russianmachineneverbreaks.com Ian Oland

    Haha.

  • patmanbnl

I hate the Rangers but I feel terrible for Lundqvist in those shots of the winning goal.

  • Freedoooom

The problem is this team cares too much about a player who is more concerned with giving interviews and going dumpster diving at free agency.

The only thing that would show me this team even remotely cares about winning is making a move for ROR.

  • Bilal

ROR? The only name that comes to mind is Ryan O’Rielly…….but seriously who are you talking about?

    sorry to be ‘that guy’

  • VeggieTart

Yeah, hopefully before Benjamin Holtby begins kindergarten.

  • BPThomas

I may be a terrible person but it actually made me feel better about sucking this entire season as a franchise.

  • Freedoooom

Yes ROR. Who is considered an excellent 2 way center…

That moment when you realize that the possibility of that being us is about the same as Ian admitting Chipotle>Qdoba.

Did you have to include the still of the video showing Shultz? Not nice. Also, Lundqvist staying in the net so long after the final goal was a bit depressing, even though I was probably the loudest person screaming at the playoff game in which Matt Bradley scored twice against him.
My neighbor screamed with joy for about 30 minutes when the Kings won the cup. I was jealous. I hope to have the opportunity to do the same some day soon when the Caps win the cup.

  • Jeff Yoders

That was once us Kings fans. If we can make it, the Caps and Ovie can!

  • opinions_thoughts

Agree on the Lundqvist thought. He is an amazing goalie and is the only reason I would want the Rangers to win the Cup. His body language spoke volumes.

  • DC Hockey Nut

Is it just me, or is that top pic the guy from Arrow? Did anyone else think that? <_<

  • DC Hockey Nut

Well just ignore me, that IS Stephen Amell. ;D

  • Goat

    Mega sigh.

  • Sarah

Hmmm… try following two teams everybody, in theory that doubles your chances. Mostly, though, it’s having the right attitude.

It’s definitely Stephen Amell, that was on his Facebook.
