RMNB reader and mega Caps fan Max attended Tuesday’s exhibition game at FedEx Field between Inter Milan and Manchester United. Because, like I said, Max is a mega Caps fan, he donned his Caps hat instead of the traditional soccer kit or scarf or something. (I barely watch soccer, my bad.) That decision worked out well for young Max.

Sitting in his same section were Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov. The Russian Caps spotted Max in his Weagle hat and — get this — asked Max to come over.

Selfies ensued.

The game ended in a 0-0 tie, but then United won 5-3 on penalties, which doesn’t make sense, but hey, it’s soccer so whatever.

Thanks to Max and Atalie for sharing the photos and story.

Is it just me or does Kuzya look like he’s put on a little muscle? Maybe it’s just the manly patchy beard playing tricks on my eyes

  • Golly Girl

We called it summer hockey in my house, during the world cup, and I totally agree with you Matthew.
That said, really funny to watch my husband yelling “Tilt the ice, tilt the ice!” … without realizing he was being funny.

With the mess in the Ukraine over the Obama v Putin feud, do the Russian athletes feel awkward at all when they are here in the US. Do fans give them weird looks or make them feel uncomfortable. Or are they like me,and leave politics alone and not care where people are from.

  • Jonah

i think they leave politics out of it. athletes have so little to do with it and they’re here to do their jobs; play hockey.

  • Jonah

well he said at the end of the season that he wanted to get bigger and tougher. maybe its working?

  • Andrew Lent

He was saying he needed to build more strength for the NHL.

  • Pat Magee

Soccer is infinitely better than baseball. I’m glad Kuzya and Dima are aware of this fact!
