Alex Ovechkin Scores Twice in First Period, Regains League Lead in Goals (GIF)

The Anaheim Ducks’ Andrew Cogliano scored on Justin Peters in the game’s first minute. Alex Ovechkin responded 16 seconds later, saying, “Nuh uh, we ain’t going down that easy tonight.”

Four minutes and eleven seconds later, Corey Perry scored. Ovechkin answered few minutes later while on the power play.

It’s going to be one of those games. Ovi will not be going gentle into that good night.

First, Ovechkin beat Josh Gibson five-hole. Within a blink after the puck dropped for the face-off, Ovi had put it in the back of the net.

Later, he scored on another Ovi shot from The Ovi Spot. Ducks defenseman Sami Vatanen deflected the puck. Seven hole.

Those were Ovechkin’s 35th and 36th goals of the year, which gives him the league lead in goals again over Rick Nash.
