The Capitals announced on Thursday that they have agreed to a two-year contract extension with forward Tom Wilson. Wilson, who was selected by the Capitals 16th overall in the first round of the 2012 NHL Draft, was scheduled to become an RFA on July 1. The contract is worth $1.75 million next season, and $2.25 million in 2017-2018.

Ticking off the last item on his summer to-do list, George McPhee has signed defenseman John Carlson to a six-year contract on Friday. Carlson will earn about four million dollars a year over a pretty long term. He will be the second highest paid D-man on the team next season (behind Mike Green).
Press release, ahoy!
