On Wednesday night, some of the best players in Capitals history (and Alan May) participated in the 2016 Caps Alumni Game to conclude Fanfest. Capitals greats Olie Kolzig, Denis Maruk, and Craig Laughlin joined fan favorites like Kevin Kaminski, and Matt Bradley, and Brent Johnson for a spirited game in front of a mostly full Kettler Capitals Iceplex.

Former YoungStars Game MVP Brian Sutherby won the exhibition for Team White in a shootout.

The Capitals released their 2016 Development Camp and Fan Fest schedule today, and if your name is Peter Hassett you’ll be happy to hear that Matt Bradley is joining Kevin Kamiski, Olie Kolzig and Dennis Maruk at something called the Caps Alumni Exhibition on Wednesday, June 29, at 7:30 p.m. at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington.

If you’re not planning to go to the 12:30 PM Caps game, watching it on TV, or going to the DC Hockey Analytics Conference (10 – 5), then I’ve got a fun event for you.

The Frederick Keys will be hosting Hockey Day at Nymeo Field and former Caps’ 60- (and 50-) goal scorer Dennis Maruk will be in attendance signing autographs. First pitch is at 2 PM. I will be there for as long as I can get away with before I’m forced to drive home and GIF an Alex Ovechkin goal.

Above, are highlights from the Caps Pens Alumni Game where the two-period exhibition ended in a 5-5 tie. One of my favorite All-Time Capitals, Peter Bondra, tied the game in the final few minutes with a wicked slap shot from the middle of the circles. In Bonzai’s post-game scrum with the media, he revealed that the scrimmage actually got quite intense.
