“Watching paint dry” is another way to say something is boring, but when it’s the Verizon Center staff painting the ice sheet for the Washington Capitals 2013-14 season, there’s reason to be excited.

You guuuuuuyssss. Ice is back at Verizon Center! On Wednesday afternoon, arena employees laid down the rink at Verizon Center, shaving the ice and dropping in lines and logos. I guess this whole hockey thing is really happening after all.

Four score and seven years ago… okay, maybe not that long – but long enough that Scott Stevens was still a Capital and the Soviet Union was still a thing, Igor– fresh out of college– left St. Petersburg and the crumbling empire for America. Within a couple of months after getting off the proverbial boat, Igor landed his first job: an engineering position at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
