Before Rocky, no favorite had ever won any sort of sporting event. You’d blow people’s minds saying something like, “One day, people will defy the odds and come from a place as obscure as Philadelphia and beat the Heavyweight Champion of the World.” And then, after Rocky II came out, people would say, “Oh! Just like he predicted!” Kinda like how most sports pundits predicted a Caps win in 5. Remember that? Yea, that was awesome. But it takes more than skill, it takes heart. It takes the Eye of the Tiger. Don’t believe me? Ask Clubber Lang. Plus, it says so in the song: “Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival!”

I can’t be sure, but I think Halak had this on repeat before Game 6.

When they sing, “I won’t harm you or touch your defenses,” they are talking about Alexander Semin, right? I mean “Dude, where’s my Sasha?!?!” Seriously. Or as they say in Russia: Серьезно (sorry for butchering this, Fedor). You have to go back to 2006 to find another 12 game scoreless streak for Semin. But as Boudreau said, “He’s not doing everything wrong. He’s just not scoring.” But if Semin wants do everything wrong, that’s fine– so long as he scores.” And yes, that rhymes in Russian.

This PP is giving me the blues. Can’t help but think of yesterday.

If you would have told me the Caps would have only one PPG and two SHG entering Game 7 I would have laughed in your face. If you told me their power play would be a woeful 1 for 30 after converting 25.2% during the regular season I would have fought you like Rocky fought Clubber Lang (the time when Rocky wins, not the time when he loses; that’d  be dumb).

But, the PP has to turn around. I mean, it has to, right? How much worse could it get? I gotta have faith…
