Remember a few weeks ago when we wrote about Stan Galiev scoring 3 goals in 3 games for Hershey? That torrid streak continued to 8 goals in 8 games before snapping this past weekend.
Galiev, who has 9 goals and 4 assists, is ranked second on the Bears in goals and fifth in points. This is a renaissance.
Let’s check out the other five goals from his 8-in-8 streak.
December 5 vs Bridgeport
To score his first goal against net-knocking, McGuire-impersonating, ex-Bears goalie David Leggio, Galiev got to the rebound first after a shot by Casey Wellman and then put the puck over the sprawling netminder.
For his second of the night, the Moscow-born winger one-timed a perfect feed from Tim Kennedy from an sharp angle and stumbled into the end wall awkwardly. It wasn’t a pretty one, but it counts.
December 7 vs Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
Now we’re entering the fancy territory. The Baby Pens defense left Galiev all alone coming into the zone, so Galiev hit the top shelf with a sizzling wrister.
December 12 at Syracuse
The Stan Shot from the Ovi Spot went off the catching glove of fellow Russian Andrei Vasilevski and somehow bounced in the net.
December 13 vs Binghamton
And another PPG from the left faceoff circle. All four Baby Sens came to the right side trying to fish the loose puck, but the Bears retained possession (great work by Nathan Walker). Chris Conner fed the puck to wide-open Galiev.
