Evgeny Kuznetsov just scored his first career NHL playoff goal. After winning a face-off right back to Karl Alzner, Kuzy skated hard to the net and set up camp in front of Jaro Halak. Alzner’s point shot was blocked, but Marcus Johansson managed to chip it up into the air, where Kuznetsov batted the puck into the net baseball-style.
CSN Washington’s call of the goal was wonderful.
“Out of the air, Evgeny Kuznetsov!” Joe Beninati yelled.
“That’s not a base hit,” Craig Laughlin said. That’s a home run by Kuzy! Way to go, 92. Yes!”
Beninati continued, “We talked to Kuznetsov earlier today at Kettler and he said, ‘It’s time for me to get a point.’ [This is] even better.”
Yes it is.
Kuznetsov celebrated like he was struggling to start his push lawnmower. WHY DOES IT NEVER START? START. DAMMIT.
I love this kid.
