EA Sports’ NHL16 got some splainin’ to do. Despite Alex Ovechkin leading the league in goals and Nicklas Backstrom leading the league in assists, EA Sports has rated the two stars’ digi-versions of themselves pretty dang conservatively.
Ovechkin, who is NHL16’s best left wing, is rated fifth overall with a score of 93. He trails Sidney Crosby by 3 points.
1. SIDNEY CROSBY (96)
2. JONATHAN TOEWS (94)
3. CAREY PRICE (94)
4. SHEA WEBER (94)
5. ALEX OVECHKIN (93)
6. DUNCAN KEITH (93)
7. DREW DOUGHTY (93)
8. STEVEN STAMKOS (93)
9. HENRIK LUNDQVIST (93)
10. PAVEL DATSYUK (93)

Meanwhile Backstrom, who’s arguably the Caps’ most valuable player, is rated 90 and ranked 32nd overall.
That doesn’t seem so bad until you look at EA Sports’ top 10 list for centers and realize he’s not even there.

Here’s the full list.
1. SIDNEY CROSBY (96)
2. JONATHAN TOEWS (94)
3. STEVEN STAMKOS (93)
4. PAVEL DATSYUK (93)

10. TYLER SEGUIN (91)
Ugh. Not this ish again.
If there’s any consolation, digi-Holtby (who looks nothing like the real Braden Holtby) is the game’s 22nd highest rated player.

Though he’s the sixth best goaltender.

1. CAREY PRICE (94)
2. HENRIK LUNDQVIST (93)
3. JONATHAN QUICK (93)
4. TUUKKA RASK (92)
