The Caps are even with the the Flames at the end of the first period thanks to this monster play by Evgeny Kuznetsov and Andre Burakovsky.
This is nuts.
Kuznetsov outworks former all-star defenseman Dennis Wideman to gain possession south of the goal line. Instead of circling the net, Kuzy backhands to Burakovsky, who is waiting in the perfect spot. Burakovsky whacks in the goal.
That’s, frankly, an upsetting amount of skill and intuition from a pair of talented young forwards. Go Caps Go, for like the next decade.
