Braden Holtby‘s nickname is the Holtbeast for good reason. He can have a temper (just ask Taylor Hall) and he protects his crease like a mama bear protects her cubs.
Wednesday night in Philadelphia, Holtby got a roughing minor, his third minor penalty of the year, after Sean Couturier got a wee bit too close to Holtby’s cage.
Couturier also received a penalty for goaltender interference. But this was just a footnote in a dirty, angry, and physical game.
Jason Chimera and Shayne Gostisbehere got very mad at each other late in the second period. Chimera sent the butt-end of his stick into Gostisbehere’s ribs after the Flyers rookie two-hand slashed him in the stomach.
