This is not Braden Holtby, but he is also a goalie, and he also plays guitar, so it kinda works.
Braden Holtby saved every one of the 19 shots that came his way on Thursday night on the way to his third career playoff shutout. The secret behind that performance: the mellow jams he shredded on his acoustic before the game.
I direct you now to an article by Caps beat alumnus Alex Prewitt, now of Sports Illustrated. Earlier this week, Prew wrote of Holtby’s pregame passion: strumming up some mellow 90s tunes for the boys.

Those jams again:
“3 A.M.” aka the blandest 3:46 on Matchbox 20’s smash debut, I Assure You, We Are Not Hootie and the Blowfish
Various rando tunes by Jack Johnson, whom I’m not allowed to make fun of because I played one of his songs at Ian’s wedding
And finally, my favorite, the classic method of obliterating the final vestige of life at a party: somebody picks up a guitar and starts strumming “Wonderwall.” It’s the easiest song in the world to play. There’s maybe four notes in the vocal melody, the lyrics are word salad, and the guitarist doesn’t even move two of his fingers. It’s a classic.
We kid because we love. I’m sure Holtby could bang out some Nitty Gritty Dirt Band or Coheed and Cambria too. And really, whatever floats his boat is cool by me, particularly if he keeps knocking down pucks like a maniac. Let a hundred flowers bloom, boys.
