Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin will be a married man at the start of the 2016-2017 NHL season, if a new report from Russian Cosmo is to be believed.
Ovechkin announced his engagement to model Nastya Shubskaya back in September, and in an article posted Tuesday, cosmo.ru editor Nastya Yudaeva claimed the two will wed in August.
Aspiring actress and model Nastya Shubskaya very soon will become the wife of a hockey player, Alexander Ovechkin. The couple has said that the festivities are planned for this August, and it appears they are actively preparing for the occasion. The 22-year-old Shubskaya visits beauty salons as well as a beautician.
Take this report with a big ol’ grain of salt though. It speculates a wedding is imminent because Shubskaya has been visiting beauty salons, and alludes to the couple having said — though it’s not clear when or to whom — they’ve set an August date, even though that hasn’t been reported anywhere else.
If it turns out to be true, however, it will cap off an exciting summer for the Great 8 in which he visited a monastery, rode a water-powered jet pack, landed the cover of Russian Forbes, practiced synchronized diving, learned to play the tuba, and went rollerblading through Moscow’s Gorky Park.
Whatever he does with his remaining summer vacation, Ovechkin will have to return to North America by mid-September to participate in the World Cup of Hockey. Training camps begin the first week of September, and Team Russia will play exhibition games in Moscow and Prague before heading to Pittsburgh for its final exhibition game Sept. 14. The tournament officially kicks off Sept. 17 in Toronto.
