Sunday afternoon at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, a decent-sized contingent of Caps fans waited outside to meet players on the parking deck. One tiny Caps fan hoped he could get a stick.
As Beagle began to make his way to his car, the fan approached. The fan was holding a half opened water bottle. And that’s when something funny happened.
Reader Gene Wu was there and gave us the lowdown.
The kid approached Jay and bet him that he could perform the flip the bottle trick. That’s where you toss a water bottle up in the air and have it land squarely on its bottom and have it standing up upright. Beagle laughed and seemed skeptical the kid could do it. He said deal.
So improbably the kid flipped the bottle into the air and it landed squarely on the bottom. Everyone was in disbelief. The kid received a big roar from the fans outside. Beagle then walked back into Kettler with all his food and came back out with his stick. He gave it to the kid.
Everyone gave Jay an ovation because he stayed true to his word.
Here are the pictures from Gene to prove it.
Beagle also held Gene’s child Marcus for a picture.
This comes the day after Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Verizon Center where Beags made the night of Cancer survivor Olivia Vach.

Earlier this season, Beagle gave practice pucks to an entire group of children during an off day skate. He also flipped a puck to a young child and took a picture through the glass during warmups.
