The Hershey Bears are giving out Canadian beer glasses featuring underage Czech Jakub Vrana

The Hershey Bears play the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins tonight at GIANT Center and they are having a fantastic giveaway. The Bears will be giving out pint glasses featuring Jakub Vrana and advertising Labatt Blue to the first 3,000 fans in attendance.

Choosing Vrana in some ways makes a lot of sense. The Caps’ 2014 first-round pick is the Bears’ most talented player and has tallied nine goals and seven assists in 18 games this season. He also recently scored his first NHL goal after an impressive 12-game run with the Washington Capitals.

The part that confuses me is that the glass promotes a Canadian beer company along side a a Czech hockey player who, at the young age of 20, cannot legally drink in the United States.

Perhaps a better candidate may have been the team’s captain and Regina, Saskatchewan native Garrett Mitchell, who is both Canadian and 25-years-old. But what fun would there have been in that?
