“Obviously, it’s a history place and it’s nice to be involved in the history and tie him,” Ovechkin said to Mike Vogel about the game. “Probably one of the best building and best atmosphere in the NHL.”

Ovechkin also had this to say on Instagram.
The Russian machine is also now on a collision course for another huge accomplishment this Wednesday against the Penguins.
“Ovi’s big on those big moments,” Barry Trotz said. “From a standpoint, I think he recognized how great the Rocket was and just tie the record with him in his building would be really special to him. That was really good. Then he got real close to that 1,000th point. I think it’s right that he should do that in Washington in front of his home fans.”
"It means I'm getting old," Alex Ovechkin on reaching significant career milestones.
