Touchdown Washington (again): All 6 goals the Caps scored on the Hurricanes

The Washington Capitals scored another touchdown Monday night, and I’m running out of positive adjectives to describe this team.

After falling behind 1-0, the Caps scored six unanswered goals because I guess they just felt like it.

Tonight marks the sixth time the Caps have scored six or more goals in their last 13 games.

Let’s review!

Goal 1 – Dmitry Orlov

Dmitry Orlov opened the scoring for the Caps. His mondo slap shot got ramped up by a Hurricanes player’s stick. The tally marked Orlov’s first career power-play goal. Evgeny Kuznetsov’s primary assist extended his assist streak to five games. Andre Burakovsky’s secondary assist extended his point streak to six games.

Goal 2 – Justin Williams

5:16 later, Justin Williams scored his 17th goal of the season on a muffin from the point. Marcus Johansson provided a beautiful screen in front of the net. The tally marked Williams’ fifth goal in five games.

Goal 3 – Dmitry Orlov

8:06, Orlov struck again to put the Caps up 3-1. After taking a cross-ice pass from Burakovsky, Brett Connolly bunted a pass to Orlov to setup the Russian from the point. The goal marked Orlov’s fourth tally of the season. It would be his second multi-goal game of his career. Brett Connolly has earned a point in five of his last eight games.

Goal 4 – Evgeny Kuznetsov

With 1:20 left in the second period, Evgeny Kuznetsov scored his seventh goal of the season. Kuznetsov fired a snap shot and bagged the rebound. Kuznetsov now has 25 points in his last 24 games. It was ninth multi-point game of the season.

Goal 5 – TJ Oshie

Tyrannosaurus Jax Oshie tallied the bailamos goal after a beautiful setup by Alex Ovechkin. The goal marked Oshie’s 18th goal of the season. With the secondary assist, Nicklas Backstrom extended his point streak to ten games.

Goal 6 – Lars Eller

Finally, Lars Eller figuratively took the pigskin across the goal line with a broken play in front of the net. With the secondary assist on the goal, Burakovsky collected three apples on the night.

In closing, geez this team is good.
