Caps lose 3-0. Baila-NOS.
- Jay Beagle sat out this match due to being sick with the flu. Feel better, Beags!
- Ovechkin presented Bryan Murray with an awesome signed jersey during the Ring of Honour celebration before the game began.
- A peewee hockey team from Justin Williams’ hometown showed up to the game to cheer the Caps on!
- Orlov took an iffy high-stick to the head and left the game for the final few seconds of the second period but returned to the ice for the start of the third.
- Pat was thrilled with the shooting from the team tonight:
I’d like to speak to your manager.
Hi yes, the Caps are not shooting 20% tonight. I demand a refund.— Pat Holden (@pfholden) January 25, 2017
- In his first game with the Capitals this season, Chandler Stephenson, Beagle’s replacement, played a team low 7:45. Stephenson also won 2 of 3 faceoffs.
- This is Philipp Grubauer’s first regulation loss since November 12th against the Carolina Hurricanes.
- Tonight’s loss breaks their unbeaten streak in regulation. They’re now 12-1-2 in their last 15 games
- There was a lively conversation on the RMNB twitter about fast food during the first intermission.
- RMNB reader Shea Angus sent us video of the Racing Prime Ministers race during intermission. This is always funny to me.
The game basically felt something like this:
Anyway, as Craig Laughlin said before the third period began…this game was “not much to write home about”.
