The Caps wrapped their sticks in pride tape for Hockey is For Everyone Night (photos)

The Washington Capitals are celebrating Hockey is For Everyone Night at Verizon Center, and it’s already  There is an auction, a ceremonial puck-drop featuring Sam Smith of the Washington Ice Dogs, and Chesapeake Wild helping out in the Caps’ tunnel.

And during warm-ups, the Caps rocked rainbow-colored pride tape on their sticks.

From the team:

Caps LGBT ambassador and superhuman goalie enhancile Braden Holtby killed five or six rolls putting his stick together. He’s also wearing his lovely You Can Play mask.

Backup goalie Philipp Grubauer got in on the action too.

The PuckBuddys are on location, snapping a shot of this autographed rainbow stick from Karl Alzner.

A silver lining on a cloud of injury, Riley Barber makes his debut.

And the fans are in on the action as well.

Just wanna use this opportunity to say that I’m really happy with the league and team and players for this. I can’t imagine this happening a decade ago. Hockey’s a cool sport, and we’ve got a good community here in DC. The more, the merrier. As far as we’re concerned, everyone’s welcome.

Except Erat.
