It’s been nearly three years since Troy Brouwer played for the Washington Capitals and enjoyed the adoration of a committed fan club called the Brouwer Rangers.
If he’d forgotten about his spandex-clad fanboys, he was reminded recently during a comedy bit for his current team, the Calgary Flames. He did not seem to remember fondly.

#Flames joke-off? Yep! The first one to laugh, loses. pic.twitter.com/Nbu3Lyk5wS

The setup is pretty simple. Members of the Flames try to crack each other up with bad jokes. Things like, “Why couldn’t the toilet paper cross the road? … It got stuck in a crack.”
Okay that one’s actually kinda funny.
One of the jokes saw forward Kris Versteeg ask Brouwer what superhero he would be. A Brouwer Ranger. Get it?!
This was Brouwer’s reaction:
This is the face of a man who’s forcing a smile to hide the fact that his deeply buried wounds are suddenly being ripped wide open.
