Andre Burakovsky sets up go-ahead goal in his first game back from injury

Andre Burakovsky has been excellent in his first game back from a hand injury. He’s got six shots on goal (and counting!), and he has recorded the primary assist on a big Matt Niskanen Justin Williams goal to give Washington the lead in the third.

The power play had just expired, but the Caps held the zone. With the Bolts defenders gassed, Burakovsky held the puck in the corner, drawing in three black jerseys. As soon as they drifted away, Andre sent a long pass to Matt Niskanen at the blue line. Niskanen unleashed a big slapshot, which Justin Williams tapped in.

That gave the Caps a 3-2 lead that they’d soon after extend.

UPDATE: Justin Williams got the last touch. Good, Williams hadn’t scored since February 24.

Meanwhile, Burakovsky’s assist is his 19th. This is his first game back since February 9. His line leads the Caps in shot-attempt differential during 5-on-5 tonight. He’s fine, guys.
