Caps defenseman Nate Schmidt has not played since March 14. In his time off, Schmidt must have devoted himself to studying both mens fashion and Kanien’kehá:ka culture. In preparation for the ‘loffs, Schmidt has adopted a mohawk haircut.

The mohawk once occupied a curious space in Caps playoff lore. Mike Green, now the D in Detroit, did head-shaving promos with Elliott in the Morning back before we were blogging. If anyone should pick up that tradition, it should be Nate.
