Ever since he was born, teeny tiny Jonas has gone to practically every Washington Capitals practice with his father. Dad, whose real life name is Sigi, manages The Brig, a beer garden located in the Capitol Riverfront (near Nats Park). To the surprise of no one, Jonas’s favorite hockey team is the Washington Capitals and his favorite hockey player is The Great Eight.
On Friday, Alex Ovechkin invited the three-year-old onto the ice after practice to skate with the team. According to Sigi, it was an early birthday gift from Ovi.

Watch as Ovechkin playfully knocks over Jonas and stick-handles the puck around him.
Other players including Jay Beagle and Daniel Winnik also came over to say hi and mess around with the tyke.
Afterwards, Ovechkin made sure to pose for several pictures with Jonas, who if you look closely, was wearing the same yellow laces as his idol.
Friday was not the first time the two have met. Ovechkin invited the family to a house party earlier in the year. They played hockey in his garage.
Jonas scored twice on Ovi the Goalie.
He also hit the Russian machine directly in the head with a shot.
According to Sigi, his son skates and plays hockey sometimes up to three hours a day. At age three, Jonas is already so advanced that he is playing with kids that are six and eight years old. I’m guessing someday we will see this kid in the NHL.
Sigi’s wife also gave birth to the couple’s second son, Maximus, last month. If I’m lucky, maybe Jonas will teach Max and my baby boy Ethan how to skate.
