I love Steve Dangle and Steve Dangle loves RMNB. My favorite team is the Washington Capitals and Steve’s favorite team is the Toronto Maple Leafs. Oh god. The next two weeks are going to suck, aren’t they?
Monday afternoon, after Steve drank a liter of coffee and I chugged a Red Bull, we spoke somewhat coherently — for 90 minutes to be exact — about the Capitals and Leafs’ first-round playoff series, which begins Thursday at Verizon Center.
We also made a playoff bet that Steve’s really going to regret.

If the Capitals win the series, Steve — who contributes to Sportsnet and has 71k mostly Canadian Twitter followers — must change his Twitter avatar to our angry Ovi face for a week. And if he’s the fun human being like he says he is, Steve will take a picture in one of our RMNB shirts crying, preferably in front of Air Canada Centre (but I’d be fine with one of him in his room too). I just want real human tears.
If the Leafs win, which — haha, yeah right — I will change the RMNB Twitter avatar to a “Canadian-flavored” photo of Auston Matthews. I guess that means it’ll have mounties, timbits, and a moose in the background. I will also wear a Steve Dangle shirt — which you can and should buy here — and eat waffles everyday for a week.

- The Leafs, despite what professional weenie Peter Hassett says, remind me of the 2007-08 Capitals. That Capitals team – featuring four young guns (Hm? The Leafs have Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Rielly) destroyed teams down the stretch with their skating and offensive talent and nearly beat the first-seeded Flyers in the first round of the playoffs. The Caps rallied to win Game One, shook off two elimination games, and eventually fell in overtime of Game Seven.
