The stunning visual of Verizon Center lit up by 18,506 red glow sticks

Thursday night, the Washington Capitals gave out red glow sticks again to all fans in attendance at Verizon Center. A white oblong piece of foam is not normally something you’d consider a great collectible, but when the glow stick was used in harmony by 18,506 fans at a sold-out Verizon Center, the effect was stunning.

Check out how this red firefly effect looked on Sportsnet’s pregame coverage.

According to RMNB’s Chris Cerullo, the glow stick had three settings, which allowed each individual fan to control if it blinked fast, blinked slow, or stayed a solid red color.
