The Blue Jackets need to win tonight because we love their Twitter account

The Columbus Blue Jackets have one of the best team Twitter accounts in the NHL. From the account’s emotional breakdown when the Caps ended the Blue Jackets’ 16-game win streak to their gifting of a signed jersey to an adoring Zach Werenski fan, the person behind this handle clearly gets it.

It’s come to a point where I find myself openly rooting for Columbus (and not just because I vehemently hate the Penguins and think Columbus would be an easier team to defeat in round two). Their Twitter account just makes me happy.

First and foremost, the Blue Jackets’ handle is here to entertain. It has a classic Twitter bio that explains succinctly who and what it is: the “Official Twitter home of the #CBJ – not the GM, coaches, or players.” This space gives the the person behind the account some latitude to be silly and engage fans – a voice that everyone can love.

The Blue Jackets jump on the popular 3-1 lead memes.

Like its fans, the Columbus handle is cantankerous when the opposing team scores. Also, they always tweet in lowercase.

Today they even retweeted their own tweets from 2009. Still relevant.

They call out those annoying Ego accounts we all hate.

They won’t let anyone forget about the time they scored 10 goals against the Canadiens.

From the graphics standpoint, their game updates are pretty and they have super awesome GIFs whenever a player scores (which I really hope they do a lot of tonight.)

They once poked some fun at the Caps Twitter account and the now timeless “great faceswap” tweet.

And they tweet us! 😍

So, yeah. We’re, not afraid to admit it. We’re friends with the Columbus Blue Jackets Twitter account and if they lose, we will miss… well, harassing them on a daily basis.

So please win again tonight, Blue Jackets. We’re not through with you yet.
