When a team takes control of a playoff series, players and coaches come up with all sorts trite ways to say they want to eliminate the other team. But speaking to reporters on a conference call Saturday afternoon, Washington Capitals head coach Barry Trotz used a novel analogy.

“You get the opportunity to push someone off the cliff, you need to push them off,” Trotz said of possibility of eliminating the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night. The Caps hold a 3-2 series lead after winning Game Five in overtime Friday.
The Leafs, however, were not deterred by Barry’s murderous thoughts.
“Makes me not want to ever go hiking with him,” Toronto forward Matt Martin said. “Our plan is to stay alive and hopefully push them off the cliff.”
