Nicklas Backstrom ties Game Five up early in third period

Nicklas Backstrom may live in Alex Ovechkin’s shadow but the Verizon Center spot light was shining bright on him early in the third period.

After taking a slick pass from Andre Burakovsky, the Caps Swede hit the far side of the net, tying Game Five at two goals a piece.

Backstrom’s goal marking his third tally of the series and fifth overall of the postseason.

He was pumped and so was the crowd. Especially that dude with the Fire Dan Snyder shirt.

Backstrom has tallied five points (three goals, two assists) in this series and 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 11 games this postseason, leading all Capitals.
