As we pointed out yesterday, the Capitals final 23-man roster is continuing to shape itself today.
Wednesday morning, Capitals senior writer Mike Vogel reported that the team will put prospect Chandler Stephenson on waivers with the intent of sending him down to AHL Hershey.
#Caps intend to place center Chandler Stephenson on waivers today; he won't practice. If he clears (noon tomorrow), he'll report to Hershey.

The move suggests that the Capitals are finalizing a deal to bring forward Alex Chiasson onto the team. Chiasson scored 12 goals with the Calgary Flames last season.
Stephenson has played 13 games with the Capitals over the last two seasons, but has not been able to carve a full-time roster spot out for himself. This news also appears to confirm that Australian Nathan Walker will make the team opening night.
