Christian Djoos is a rookie defenseman, and this is how he scores

The Capitals have had only one goalscorer on their defense this season, but he’s scored again tonight. With moves you might not expected from a 7th round draft pick rookie defenseman, Christian Djoos got the Caps on the scoreboard late in the second of a miserable game.

During a rare moment of even-strength play, Nicklas Backstrom had the puck deep in the Panthers’ zone. He gets it to Djoos, who moves to the slot, undressing a couple white sweaters in the process.

With that fake towards the net, Djoos got enough space in the slot for a nice release. Excellent patience here.

That play earned a plus for this vintage, dependable Caps forward trio.

JK, that’s a weird group of forwards.

Djoos has two goals this season. His first came in his first game on his very first shot.
