The Washington Capitals are making their way up north to face off against the Brookl- I mean, New York Islanders. The Capitals have won seven of their last eight games, so naturally, I’m starting to get nervous again. I like to be comfortably good, but not the best. The Isles on the other end are 1-3-1 in their last five games. Woof.
The game starts at 7 PM, just so you can go to bed on time. Watch on your regular NBCSWA (or MSG for those of us in the big apple). Pete has your recap.

Storylines
- The Capitals were in first place of the Metro Division for like 3 seconds the other day! So exciting! The pressure! Oh no!
- Tom Wilson is still killin’ it. Have you heard of him?
- Artemi Panarin became the first player in 22 years to have five primary assists in one game. He’s fun to watch, but I hate his guts.
- Alex Semin had a lil babe, so he’s back in the US of A and taking a quick break from the VHL.
- The most wonderful time of the year is now only because of the Teddy Bear Toss. Check out the sweet pics that Cara was able to capture during the Bears game.
- Lucas Johansen is OBSESSED with Christian Djoos. Okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but he has been studying Djoos’ film to hopefully improve his play!
- While we’re on the subject of Lucas Johansen, he’s been en fuego against Lehigh Valley.
- Snow day for Evgeny Kuznetsov and his lil babe, Ecenia.
- One of my favorite couples of the century is Tom Wilson and instagram banter. Always a good time.
- Hockey n’Heels is happening again. You can grab your tickets on December 13.
- Good Bears Dad Content Alert: Chris Bourque‘s son had a quick interview and mentioned his fave Bears player is Riley Barber. Sounds like Chris needs to step it up a bit.
Favorites of 2017
We’ve covered albums, movies, and video games. Continuing on Pete’s path to talk about personal faves of 2017, I’m going to mention some favorite TV shows of 2017.
I feel like TV is only getting better these days, which is great for me because I love TV. There are some really great ones out there that we’ve all gotten to see this year, including The Good Place, Big Little Lies, Insecure, Stranger Things, and others (plus I need to start The Leftovers).
But, I am still riding this specific high, mainly because I finished this on Saturday during the snow.
I was super harsh about the first season of The Crown and I still stand by the fact that it moved at a snail’s pace and was, frankly, a bit hard to get through. I took many naps and felt like I didn’t miss much. The second season just dropped last week and I thought it was light years better.
Everything this season was so good. The acting, the cinematography, and the set design were all really good the first time around. This season I really felt like they bumped up the drama a bit, which was exactly what I needed. I know history can get boring because I work in the history book world, but if you add a lil’ bit of drama and maybe some white lies, things get good. You just can’t take shows like this as bible. The other beauty about shows like this are when they suck you in to a point where you think, “wow…JFK got shot? hope he’s alright!” He won’t be. This is a fact.
Anyway, give it a go. It’s really good. Specifically, episode six where they talk about all that Duke of Windsor/Nazi nonsense and end with the real photos of him and Hitler (fun fact: today is actually the anniversary that he abdicated from the throne). You get a super gross chill up your spine.
